Shivalik Bank is a member of National Financial Switch (NFS) powered by NPCI, which allows sharing of ATMs among the members bank. By this network we provide a reach of 176,000+ ATMs to our customers.

What is an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)?

Automated Teller Machine is a computerised machine that provides the customers of banks the facility of accessing their accounts for dispensing cash and to carry out other financial transactions without the need of actually visiting a bank branch.


What type of cards can be used at an ATM?

ATM cards/debit cards can be used at ATMs for various transactions.

What are the services/facilities available at ATMs?

ln addition to cash dispensing ATMs may have many services/facilities such as: 

•    Balance Enquiry
•    Mini /Short Statement
•    PIN change 
The services offered may vary depend on the capacity of the machine to provide such services. 

How can one transact at an ATM?

For transacting at an ATM, the customer inserts (swipes) their card in the ATM and enters their Personal Identification Number (PIN).

What is a Personal Identification Number (PIN)? 

PIN is the 4-digit numeric password for use at the ATM.  In order to maintain complete secrecy and to ensure security, the PIN is separately mailed/ handed over to the customer by the bank while issuing the card. During first transaction at bank's ATM after getting a new card and PIN, the card holder has to change the PIN given by the bank to a new PIN of his / her choice. The PIN number together with the ATM Card is the bank's way of identifying a genuine card holder.  Therefore, the card holder must not share his / her PIN with anyone and should not write the PIN on the card or in the wallet where card is also kept otherwise if a card is lost, its PIN would also be available to the person who finds the card and thus there would be full chance of the card being used by an unauthorised person.  

What should one do if he forgets PIN or the card is sucked in by the ATM?

Although Shivalik Bank's ATM machines do not suck in the cards, other bank's ATM of different make and model may suck in the card and the same is returned when the transaction is completed. If the machine fails to retern your card, you should contact your branch / bank alongwith   The customer may contact the card issuing bank branch and apply for retrieval/issuance of a new card. This procedure is applicable even if the card is sucked in at another bank's ATM.

In case the cardholder forgets the PIN, he/she should get in touch with the card-issuing branch for issue of fresh PIN. 

What should be done if the card is lost/stolen?

The customer may contact the card issuing bank immediately on noticing the loss so as to enable the bank to block such cards. Customer may block his/her card by calling at 022-33865300 Ext. 22308 .  

Is there any minimum and maximum cash withdrawal limit per day?

Yes, the bank sets limit for cash withdrawal by customers. The cash withdrawal limit for use at the ATM of the issuing bank is set by the bank during the issuance of the card and may depend on the type of account/card. For cash withdrawals at other bank ATMs, banks have decided to maintain a limit of Rs. 10,000.00 per transaction as per RBI guidelines.  

Do banks levy any service charge for use of other bank ATMs?

Beyond 5 transaction on other bank's ATM, Rs. 20/- + tax (total Rs. 22.50) are payable in case of financial transaction (withdrawal / transfer of funds etc.) and Rs. 9.00 + tax in case of non-financial transaction (e.g. balance enquiry).  Thus, you can use your Card on 5 occasions only on other bank's ATMs without incurring any charges . 

What should be done in case cash is not disbursed by the machine but your account gets debited for the amount?

Usually, In such cases bank learn about non-disbursal of cash by the machine while reconciling their account and the debit entry is reversed within 3-4 days.  However, if your account doesn't get a credit for failed transaction, you should demand reversal of the debit entry from your bank by sending in a complaint in writing. This process is applicable even if the transaction was carried out at another bank's ATM.

Cash Retract ATMs is disabled

As per the RBI guidelines, it is mandatory to remove ' Cash retract' feature from the ATMs.
In line with the RBI directive, we, at Shivalik Bankwe have taken out the ‘Cash Retraction’ facility from our ATM’s machines. Please therefore, do not forget to collect your cash as the cash will not be retracted in the ATM machine and will remain in the mouth of the ATM till the time the cash is not collected.
It is advised to the customers that they should collect their cash as soon as it is dispensed, otherwise someone else might take it.
